Compare the2024 Mercedes EQBVS 2024 Lexus RZ

The EQB’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The RZ doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

Both the EQB and the RZ have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, front wheel drive, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors, available lane departure warning systems and around view monitors.

There are over 57 percent more Mercedes dealers than there are Lexus dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the EQB’s warranty.

The EQB has more powerful engines than the RZ:

On the EPA test cycle the EQB 250+ FWD gets better mileage than the RZ 300e w/20" Wheels FWD (114 city/100 hwy vs. 96 city/105 hwy MPGe).

The EQB can travel longer on a full charge than the RZ on a full charge:

The EQB’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 55 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the RZ’s standard 60 series front tires.

Changing a flat tire near traffic can be dangerous and inconvenient. The run-flat tires available on the EQB can be driven up to 50 miles without any air pressure, allowing you to drive to a service station for a repair. The RZ doesn’t offer run-flat tires.

The EQB offers an optional driver-adjustable suspension system. It allows the driver to choose between an extra-supple ride, reducing fatigue on long trips, or a sport setting, which allows maximum control for tricky roads or off-road. The RZ’s suspension doesn’t offer adjustable shock absorbers.

The EQB’s drift compensation steering can automatically compensate for road conditions which would cause the vehicle to drift from side to side, helping the driver to keep the vehicle straight more easily. The RZ doesn’t offer drift compensation steering.

The EQB 350 4MATIC handles at .85 G’s, while the RZ 450e Premium pulls only .83 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The EQB is 4.8 inches shorter than the RZ, making the EQB easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The EQB offers optional seating for 7 passengers; the RZ can only carry 5.

The EQB has 2.1 inches more front headroom, .6 inches more rear headroom, .6 inches more rear legroom and .6 inches more rear shoulder room than the RZ.

The EQB’s cargo area provides more volume than the RZ.

A low lift-over cargo hatch design makes loading and unloading the EQB easier. The EQB’s cargo hatch lift-over height is 28.5 inches, while the RZ’s liftover is 29.8 inches.

A standard locking glovebox (which can’t be accessed with the valet key) keeps your small valuables safer in the EQB. The RZ doesn’t offer locking storage for small valuables.

The EQB uses gas struts to support the hood for easier service access. The RZ uses a prop rod to support its heavy hood. It takes two hands to open the hood and set the prop rod, the prop rod gets in the way during maintenance and service, and the prop rod could be knocked out, causing the heavy hood to fall on the person maintaining or servicing the car.

An ASSYST PLUS is standard on the EQB to save the owner time and money by calculating maintenance intervals based on odometer mileage. This takes the guesswork out of keeping your vehicle in top condition and helps it last longer. Lexus doesn’t offer a maintenance reminder on the RZ.

Unlike the driver-only memory system in the RZ, the EQB has standard driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, suspension setting, power steering assist, outside mirror angle, climate settings and radio stations and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

The power windows standard on both the EQB and the RZ have locks to prevent small children from operating them. When the lock on the EQB is engaged the driver can still operate all of the windows, for instance to close one opened by a child. The RZ prevents the driver from operating the other windows just as it does the other passengers.

If the windows are left open on the EQB the driver can close them all at the outside door handle or from a distance using the remote. On a hot day the driver can lower the windows from a distance using the keyless remote. The driver of the RZ can only close the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are optional on the EQB to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The RZ doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the EQB has a standard rear wiper. The RZ doesn’t offer a rear wiper.

To help drivers avoid possible obstacles, the EQB offers optional cornering lights to illuminate around corners when the turn signals are activated. The RZ doesn’t offer cornering lights. The EQB also offers optional adaptive headlights to illuminate around corners automatically by reading vehicle speed and steering wheel angle.

The EQB offers optional massaging front seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging seats aren’t available in the RZ.

The Mercedes EQB outsold the Lexus RZ by over two to one during 2023.
