Both the eSprinter and ProMaster EV offer rear cross-traffic warning, but the eSprinter with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert also has Rear Cross Traffic Braking (automatically applies the brakes) to better prevent a collision when backing near traffic. The ProMaster EV’s Rear Cross Path Detection doesn’t automatically brake.
Both the eSprinter and the ProMaster EV have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, post-collision automatic braking systems, daytime running lights, rearview cameras, available blind spot warning systems, around view monitors and driver alert monitors.
The Mercedes eSprinter weighs 1156 pounds more than the Ram ProMaster EV. The NHTSA advises that heavier vehicles are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.
